We understand that President Buhari has rejected the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill sent to him by the National Assembly. The President’s rejection of the PIGB poses a significant set back to the oil and gas reforms going through the National Assembly.
What Next?
The options available are for the National Assembly to overrule the President. This would require a 2/3rds majority of members present and voting in both houses of the Assembly. In view of the current political climate, this does not seem likely.
